Self-reflection, not a quiz
Does this sound familiar?
The useful question isn't "do I have bad PMS". It's whether severe emotional and physical symptoms keep showing up in a particular phase of your cycle, and whether they interfere with your daily life.
Nothing below scores you or diagnoses you. It's just language for what you might be experiencing.
Mood
- Intense irritability or anger
- Sadness
- Anxiety
- Feeling overwhelmed
- Hopelessness
Brain
- Brain fog
- Difficulty concentrating
- Feeling unable to cope
Body
- Fatigue
- Appetite changes
- Sleep changes
- Bloating
- Breast tenderness
- Headaches
Life
- Relationship conflict
- Difficulty working
- Withdrawing socially
- Feeling unable to function normally
What matters most
- The symptoms repeat, cycle after cycle.
- They cluster in the days or weeks before your period.
- They ease off after bleeding starts.
- They get in the way of work, relationships, or ordinary life.
If this happens repeatedly around your menstrual cycle, it may be worth talking to a healthcare professional about PMDD or another premenstrual disorder. Keeping a simple daily record of your symptoms and cycle dates makes that conversation much easier.
